random points and thoughts
- 2010 polls will be another showdown of election advertisements. 15 months before the May 10 election, notice the well-crafted and expensive campaign ads of Mar and Manny. They will surely prefer to call these advocacy campaigns. Noli, on the other hand, is able to do it for free via his regular DZMM radio program and Pag-Ibig housing loan infomercial.
- Ibon reports that RP enters into a recession.

- "Poverty is when a mother cannot feed her child. It is present when hunger drives people to commit unimaginable crimes. Poverty is felt when one is left with no other option but to leave his/her family and country just so he could earn a living. Poverty exists when we allow children to toil beyond their capacity, to labor instead of taking care of their needs. Poverty is when we cannot afford healthcare and medicines. - Sheila Leynes, MD
- "Poverty is systems failure of society where its citizens lack access or are deprived of the opportunities for wealth creation and total human development."
- Jaime Galvez-Tan, MD, UP College of Medicine - "Poverty in general sense is the lack of what is necessary, important or valuable."
- Dr. Lea Chiu, UP College of Education
Dr. Edberto Villegas on Poverty
over the means of production of society like water, food, fuel, machines, etc.
These must be socially-owned and their suplus given in addition to their salaries
- back to the producers to uplift their welfare.
Even those who cannot work must be supported by society to uphold the dignity of man.
But the lazy will just be given a basic allowance in order to encourage him/her to work.
Society will provide jobs to everyone according to their inclinations.
It's not true that there will always be the poor among us
for man can entirely eliminate poverty."

The Crime of Empire
More importantly, what it seeks to unravel is the reality of system-driven global impoverishment and poverty-creation in support of global enrichment and wealth-creation—
a process of high crime and grand fraud made all the more pernicious, not just by its patent exploitativeness and extreme social injustice, but also by its "invisibility" and concealment by the blinders of the market. It is thus a perfect crime, until, of course, it is adequately exposed.
But, until then, it remains the world's best-kept secret."
