Absentee students

John Ponsaran:
I'd like to seek your advice on how to deal with
absentee students - those with valid excuses
and those who are just irresponsible.

Henry Tenedero:
From a learning styles point of view, absentee students
may find learning "outside" more meaningful than
learning inside the classroom.
Again, if individual learning styles are valued,
students will make no excuse being absent
(whether they have valid excuses or they are simply irreponsible).

Information literacy

Prof. John Ponsaran:
I hope it's not too much if I ask your advice
on how to better instill among the youth the
importance of
choosing the right TV programs to watch.

Dr. Florangel Rosario-Braid:
This is very important. It will have to be a concerted effort to
educate teachers, parents and the youth on criteria for good programs.
It will have to start with instilling need
for critical thinking which begins with teaching people
information literacy - how to identify, process, evaluate and use information.
The criteria for "good" TV programs should be developed.
I believe in media education rather than censorship.
Anyway, it is difficult to censor programs in the light of the
realities of our information age and borderless world.
Thanks for writing.

Liham para kay Sir ___

Sir ____,

Magandang umaga po.
May nabalitaan po ako kahapon ukol sa
inyong planong maagang pagreretiro.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shoulder_surfing_(computer_security)
    Sa paglala ng pampinansyang krisis,
lalong tataas ng kaso ng kriminalidad.

  • Mag-ingat sa "double burden" of diseases.
TB) at malnutrisyon

2010

  • Based on the Feb. 2009 Pulse Asia presidential preference survey,
Noli ranked first (19%), followed by Chiz (17%),
    Erap (16%), Manny (15%), then Loren (12%)
  • Noli has yet to formally declare his intention to run
but he has been consistently topping surveys since last year.
Expect a reversal of his political fortune
if he associates himself with Gloria.
  • In text and in spirit, the Constitution bans Erap to run again as president.
With that 16%, his anointment can boost the chances of another top contender.
  • Manny only placed 4th in the national senatorial race in 2007.
Does it indicate anything about his prospect in 2010?
  • Loren's ranking continues to plummet.
If it slides further, she shouldn't take her chances anymore.
  • Chiz is just a hype.
He's running on the singular platform of age.
    Call it chronocentrism.
