Community Development (CD)

• Community organizing (CO) is a form of social technology
  which aims to empower community and its people.
• Interdisciplinary approach (IDA) is essential in ensuring
  the success of community development.
• Cultural understanding is the missing element
  in undertaking community development.
• There are 2 types of community organizers
  in indigenous communities.
  Those who are seeking to raise the political
  consciousness of the people to empower them
  and those who are paid by the TNCs/government
  to plan for their eviction from their ancestral land.
• In my opinion, participatory democracy, synergy (sanib-lakas)
  and political activism are key elements of CD.
