Violence

  • State-sponsored terrorism kills more people
and destroys more properties than what are
actually reported by the mainstream bourgeois media.
  • Cheap food imports and food aid from the Global North
jeopardize the livelihood of countless local peasants in the
Global South by depressing the prices of their products.
  • To meet the production target, over-time is forced upon
workers by the management in many factories and offices.
  • Hunger is not a mere medical affliction.
It is by and large a socio-economic problem.
Attempts to medicalize hunger by reducing it to a mere case of
malnutrition renders it as a mere personal problem,
    not a social one.
    (Nancy Scheper-Hughes)
  • Racism, ageism, sexism and elitism
    are examples of structural violence.
The quality of life (QOL) of people is adversely affected if
they are marginalized and oppressed by the social structures.
