random thoughts

  • Defenders of capitalism say that it's a resilient economic system. Let's see.
  • Dr. Ed Villegas defines political economy as the interaction between the substructure (economics) and the superstructure (ideology, politics, legal system, culture, and religion).
  • People, place, time, narrative, and interpretation are the 5 elements of history.
    By and large, interpretation is the most debatable.
  • Student absenteeism is penalized by teachers either through deductions or reprimand.
    To be fair, what do we do with absentee professors?
  • Juniors, you may start shortlisting possible thesis topics.
  • On its own, the proposed Reproductive Health and Population Development Act of 2008 won't solve the problem of poverty and underdevelopment in the country instantly but it's a step to the right direction. It should not be held in isolation from other pro-poor social and economic legislations. Poverty eradication should be an integrated approach.
